When Love is in the Air - Kanana

Hey, who new valentine would come in October? Well, apparently, miracles still happen. As I type this, only three words are stuck on my mind, "NI MAPENZI TU". Indeed, love is the greatest, now I believe. And boy did it take me a while to do so. Honestly, I never knew I'll live to listen to such an infectious jam that is proudly Kenyan. A lady name Kanana just made it a reality. From the instrumentation, arrangement, melody, chords, lyrics, just name it, everything is on point.
Kanana may be a newcomer but she has definitely set standards and put herself in a class above her peers. I mean even veteran female artists who have been here for a while have never come up with such a composition. Everybody can sing about love, but it's how you sing it that can make one long to fall in love. Kanana just made us do that, want to fall in love. She sings so passionately that you can't help but love, her plus the song. From the Kaka empire, we are blessed with one of the best things to happen to our music industry for a long time to come. All we can say now is; Ni Mapenzi Tu Kanana :-)

Happy Birthday Ubuntu 9 years old

This is a cool Infographic that explains the journey of the worlds open source OS that was launched in 2004.

This Must Go On and On

Did anybody miss me? I doubt, judging by the quietness, you people never missed me. But I missed y'all terribly. Pardon my Draking (heard there is a verb like that) , I enjoy interacting so silence drives me nuts. Straight away to business, I must say that Kenya is definitely on the right track, musically speaking. If what the new age artists are doing is anything to go by, then we have a bright future ahead. Put on your Ray Bans.
Leading this adventure by a new wave of musicians are three young guys who are out to totally change the face of urban music. Kibz, a.k.a Arap Kibz together with the duo of Affiliates HYPE may have just debut what can easily be the best urban music video this year. I have never replayed a video like this for a long while and trust me when I say that every single play makes you want to keep listening. The rap is fresh, the production is awesome and the visuals itself is eye-candy. Who knew that we didn't have to wait till 2030 to watch something like this?
I really hope these guys continue along this line since no one can ever ignore a breath of freshness that is witnessed in this whole project. Big up to the producer for the track, its out of the Kenyan mind-state box, the artists utilized it well. The director deserves a round of applause for the creativity too. This should be something that you play on the go and you keep it going on and on.

Choreography at Its Best

Kenya has come a long way when it comes to dance and dance styles and it is only in the recent 2 years that street dance has become a major movement in the streets and on mainstream media with shows like Sakata Dance Battle, Orange Beat Ya Street (OBYS) which have brought to the limelight Kenyan dance crews.
lifestyle.ke.msn.com

Granted the huge strides the Kenyan dance industry has taken, it is yet to compete with the ever dynamic and creative international dance scene as we are yet to get a Kenyan Dance crew compete on this level. We have had some successfully compete ad win in regional and Pan African contents like Wapi Wapi crew winners of 2011 Malta Guinness Street Dance Championships who have also won OBYS 2013 edition.

We are almost there  in terms of taking Kenyan Dance to new levels and it is high time we set off a dance frenzy and come up with a unique style that will be the rage on online videos and viral videos.

Our dance crews also have to step up and shape up more to be the best not only on the continent but also world wide. We have a video from Japan that sets out a clear warning to Kenyan dance crews that they better be on their toes or else... and we slot in one that brilliantly showcases the rise of Kenyan Street Dance to meet global standards

Moment for Life - Mishu (Remix)

Photo
It's a tricky thing to remix a popular song, especially if it's done by one of the biggest names in the industry. Takes confidence and trust in yourself to even think about it. Well, this teenie who goes by the name Mi$hu, 1/3 of Dr3am Ville, decided to remix(cover) Nicki Minaj's run way hit Moment for Life. The track was actually produced by another teenager, Alex Red of Disturbing Africa. While the home video was short and edited by KC, a fellow rapper and a brother to Mishu. Safe to say Kenyan youth are getting serious with music at a young age, which is good for growth in our continent.
Listen and be the judge.

Why Men Stare at BOOBS

We (men) love to stare at them, touch them ...I wont go into any more ratchet details but the fact of the matter is that men love BOOBS. The only problem is that they are women's (granted a few men have them) and women don't share unless they care about you.

Men have been on the receiving end of many a mouthful when caught in the act...ogling I mean and women don't make it easy not to stare due to some of their fashion forward clothes that  leave very little to the imagination.

It is even worse for a man who is physically reprimanded with a slap or a fist by the more feisty females.

We have the best reason you can give when asked why you were staring and it is a sure proof explanation that may even land you a date ;). Watch it below

Yunasi Please Don't Go

Don't you just love something that brings back fond memories? it seems like yesterday when we used to sing along to Usilewe ndi ndi ndi, you remember the song? It was a crazy hit that was playing on all the radio stations and we loved the satirical nature and Kenya being a drinking Nation (Nonini's words), the advice was inevitable.
Well the group behind the chart buster, Yunasi band are back and they already have a new single out. I saw it premiered on KTN's baseline show and instantly knew I must share it out. I envy the gentlemen in this video and how I just wish I was this close to these beautiful ladies. Hmmm, watch this.

Love is the Greatest.

I've been staring at this keyboard for a while, wondering what I should type and how I'm going to introduce myself to you wonderful people at Mtaani254. You see, first impression is always everything, it can either make or break your good intentions. Being a literature student, I understand so well the importance of creating a rapport with the audience.
I could go on and on telling you my name and everything I do but that will just bore you and make me look selfish. I choose to take a different route and make this fun for all of us. We will know each other as time goes by. Just be braced for a fun-filled journey, humor and good music because as they say, aint no good time like one in the 254! I am a strong crusader of love, I preach it at every single opportunity I get. You see, even the good book has it that love is the greatest gift.
With that said, let me reward you with my first gift of love. watch the video below and give love today.
