Sura Yako RMX (Sauti Sol ft Iyanya)

This Kenyan band has come a long way even bagging the 2014 MTV EMA Best African Act Award and they are nominated in a host of other Pan-African awards.

This year Sauti Sol released ''Nishike''( Swahili for touch me) & they were heavily condemned by pretentious Kenyans for straying off their 'family friendly' songs and videos.

They sort of heeded their fans cry and came out with ''Sura Yako" (Swahili for your face) which really sounds bland when translated but is a really catchy song.

They first released a dance instruction video for the Lipala dance and the ''Sura Yako" dance craze went viral in all the weddings and party joints.

It is touted as being a better video for the song than the official video, we think mainly due to the energy exuded in the dancing, you be the judge.

They followed this up with a swanky video by the one and only Kenyan cinematographer extraordinaire Enos Olik.
The official video hasn't caught up as much as expected but still has favorable reviews and views.

However, the remix, featuring Nigeria's Kukere master Iyanya, fails to meet expectations to say the very least and will be a hard sell with the instructional dance video being a better video despite its very low budget nature compared to the other two.

Some critics have described it as having a sort of choir element between the Iyanya-Sauti Sol verses.

You can have a look at it below

In all fairness to Sauti Sol we love them and the song. However, the 2 main videos, for the original and the remix, should have had more...we were expecting something bigger and quite frankly glamorous.

If you think am being too harsh, watch Sura Yako. In my opinion, this is how the video should have looked like.
